Individualism

BY KEITH KIRSNER

Everyone once in a while, you’ll do a double take of something you just saw that will make you think for a bit. After seeing two grown twins wearing the same outfit as they passed me on the street, it really blew my mind. Here is your one chance to be an individual and represent yourself and you both are blowing it! Sure it was cute when you were 5 and no one could separate you two, but this is now your choice – not “Mom’s idea”. You already look the same. Why not be your own person and dress yourselves. From a financial stand point, it doesn’t even make sense to buy two of the same outfit because you can switch off on different days. The choice is easy. Don’t dress like you’re in a double-mint gum commercial from the 90’s…

Skulls, Fire, & Angel Wings

BY KEITH KIRSNER Sometimes people still don’t get the message even when a trend has peaked. When something has been beat to death and killed to the bone, or in this case skull, it’s usually time to stop wearing it. Yet guys all over still continue to wear their skull t-shirts like they’re wearing it for the first time. This shirt mocks some of the typical graphic tees you’ve seen over the last 5 years over and over and over again. No graphics necessary to find humor in this one. Guys, it’s okay. Fold them up and pack them away. Do it. Do it now.

Fitness Readjust

BY KEITH KIRSNER
Before using a new machine at the gym, it’s not only important to adjust the weight before you begin the exercise. Before you start the motion, you must do some preparations. Like you would adjust your mirrors in your car before you drive –among other things, you need to reposition the seat you’re about to use. The person who used it last adjusted it according to their body type and height. You could do the exercise incorrectly or worse, seriously injure yourself by jumping right on and starting immediately. So don’t forget- adjust the weight, adjust the seat.

Master of Disguise

BY KEITH KIRSNER
You might have read the comics, watched the TV shows, or even seen the movies. Of the many unresolved questions behind one of the most complex superheros of all time, is one regarding his attire. First, why is he wearing yellow briefs? And just about everyone has seen that moment when Clark Kent transforms himself into Superman, loosening his tie and seeing that ‘S’ across his chest, but have you ever questioned his cape? If he does in fact change out of his work suit into his superhero gear, how does he deal with his cape? Is it just pushed to one side, down one pant leg or does he roll it up like a sleeping bag, creating excellent shoulder pads for his suit jacket. And that brings me to my next point. What about the suit he was wearing!? Where does it go and why can’t Lex Luther and Jimmy Olsen figure it out? Are his glasses that much of a disguise? Some things just can’t be explained…

Smell Like a Man

BY EITAN BRAHAM I love the sweet and soft smell of a woman just as much as the next guy. The way their hair smells like flowers and their skin like honey. Naturally women smell better than men since they have fewer sweat glands, however, the flowers and honey aroma are far from natural. Sorry to break it to you guys, but it comes from a bottle. I’m sure many of you that have shared a bathroom with a woman, whether it is your girlfriend, friend, or just a roommate, you already know this. Now here is the problem, some of you think it is ok to use women’s shower products on yourself. Big Mistake!

A woman doesn’t want you smelling like her, not when you’re clean and not when you’re dirty. She wants you to smell like a man. Men and women alike are sexually aroused by smell, and just like you wouldn’t be attracted to a women smelling like a bottle of old spice, she won’t be turned on if you smell like the flower of the month. Would you use a woman’s deodorant, razor, perfume or hair product, clearly not (if you are, your problems are deeper they I can assist with!). Why then do so many men think it is ok to use a woman’s shampoo or body wash?

Bottom line guys, a woman should have about 15 different types of shower products, a man should have a maximum of 3 (and that’s pushing it!) that were MADE for MEN. I hope the next time I smell the sweet scent of a beautiful woman at a bar or on the train it isn’t you!!!

Fix Up Your Get Up

BY KEITH KIRSNER
Well you might have just woken up or just taken a quick trip to the urinal. Either way you have made it to the bathroom. It’s time to readjust. Re-tuck that shirt, make sure that belt buckle is in sync with the buttons on your shirt, fix your collar, and check for loose ends. Are your laces untied? Do you have to blow your nose, get the crests from last night’s sleep out of your eyes, or did you just get back from lunch? Anything in your teeth? And of course, Gentlemen before you leave - ALWAYS CHECK YOUR FLY!

Players Choice Signature Series

BY KEITH KIRSNER If you’re a Mets fan and love you team, now you can support them by wearing clothes the players designed themselves. Each shirt, jersey, or cap is uniquely designed and shows off their personality in the merchandise. You can check out Jason Bay’s t-shirt showing off some Canadian pride with the colors he chose. The players agree Santana’s T and jersey came out the best, but there’s a good reason these guys play baseball for a living…

Standing in Line

BY KEITH KIRSNER
You get out of the cab and you wonder, 'Is this going to be worth it?' You try and follow the line, but it runs around the corner. 'I don't know about this.' You stroll to the end and wait. Then you wait a little more. You check out the time and then you wait some more. What will it take for you to get in? Or should I say, what is the price of you getting in? You see that half an hour has passed and now you're anxious. You're still in the same damn spot! What is going on!? As your friends hold your spot, you check out the front of the line. People are talking to the bouncer, offering money to buy bottles and a table, and of course, a little something extra to help him remember them for next time. You see people cutting, girls flying right in, and a clip board the bouncer is holding. You're wondering, 'Do I need to be on that damn list too now!?"

Let me tell you something about lines. Lines are an illusion. They're there to allow those you want in and leave out those you don't. Ask yourself, do you really want to be somewhere where they have that kind of authority over you? What a waste of time. Lines are for suckers.

At the Gym: Germs Be Gone

BY ROBERT ESSIG We all know the saying; ‘Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.’ Well when it comes to the gym, keep your spotters close and keep your hand sanitizer closer. Gyms are an excellent place for germs to survive due to the warm moist environment. The amount of people who work out during the day, makes it so easy for germs to be spread to all corners of the gym. With the recent case of H1N1, many gyms started to put more hand sanitizers dispensers to help fight the virus. Alcohol based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is highly recommended. As for the proper amount to use, roughly the size of a quarter, and it should take about 30seconds to dry once rubbed in your hands. Anything less than that can diminish the effects.

GOAL!!!

BY STEPHEN CONROY With the World Cup heating up faster than the temperature outside, it's time to look cool this summer by wearing the colors of the nation you're supporting. Unlike the eyesores that were soccer jerseys in the 1990's. Both Nike and Adidas have done a tremendous job in designing jerseys perfect for the summer months. Nearly every team in the 2010 World Cup has a fashionable design and have also incorporated the lightest possible materials to make the jersey comfortable to wear even on the sunniest of summer days.

My advice to you, is to proudly wear the the colors of the team you support. In a place like New York, even if you're wearing the pinstripes of France or the orange of the Dutch people will respect and may even applaud your decision to boldly show your colors.

Of course, you can always support the USA by wearing their 2010 jersey. It is an unbelievably sharp jersey whether you decide on blue or white.

To the Last Drop

BY KEITH KIRSNER
So you just got off work, long commute home, you’re exhausted, but you’ve somehow managed to make yourself some dinner. Now, you have an exciting night ahead of you with more work separating, cleaning, drying, and hanging; laundry that is. You open the door and put your first load into the washing machine and as you bend down to lift the bottle of detergent, you realize in sheer disappointment that the bottle is weightless. What to do now? Go to the store and buy some more of course. But before the inevitable, don’t recycle that bottle just yet! I bet you your next bottle of detergent you can still get that first load done with just a drop of soap left in the bottle. Turn on the water on the washing machine and unscrew the cap. Put open bottle under the running water until about filled about halfway. Put the cover back on and SHAKE! Then open the bottle and pour back into the wash. Repeat. You’ll be surprised of the bubble bath of soap pouring out of the spout. You’ll be shocked just how much detergent lies within the handle of the bottle! Just a little tip that goes a long way…

Bigger Biceps

BY ROBERT ESSIG Need help building larger biceps? Try this exercise everyday to help the process; Close-Grip-Chin-Ups are a great way to help build your muscles. Biceps are the secondary muscle during the chin up exercise, except you’re using such a large amount of weight during the process. For example, I am 155lbs, the max I can curl standing up is 50lbs. That puts me at a 100lbs max for my curl. Now when I do a normal chin up, I’m now putting an extra 55lbs of stress on my biceps as I’m pulling my body up. It’s a great way to help getting that extra push you need to get those biceps to bulge!

Jordan-stache

BY KEITH KIRSNER Charles Barkley said it - now I'm repeating it. C'mon Michael! What in the world were you thinking? In the new Hanes commercial, Jordan sports a tiny chopstache that only two people in the world are recognized with this signature mustache; Charlie Chaplin and I’m sure you can guess the other. No other person should ever attempt to pull this off! Here’s what Barkley said in regard to MJ’s new mustache:

"I have got to admit when I saw that commercial I had to take a double take... That is one of the stupidest things that I have seen in a long time. First of all, I can't believe that they let that commercial get on the air like that. I mean in making commercials, they have got little ladies there making sure the cheese is right. When I am shooting the Taco Bell commercial they have got this little woman making sure that every cinnamon twist and every piece of cheese is in order and now they let my man get on TV with that terrible mustache. I was totally in shock and just, I just can't believe that. That is really not good at all."

BY KEITH KIRSNER
What’s the deal with people wearing their watches on the inside of their wrists?

New Plates – Old Look

BY KEITH KIRSNER
If you’ve been on the road, you’ve probably noticed by now NY plates have a different look. New York State introduced NEW “Empire Gold” Vehicle Plates on April 1st, 2010. They got themselves a tune up after over 30 years of white and blue, they went back to their retro colors for a vintage look. They look very similar to plates generated in the 70’s. It’s too bad you can’t exchange them for the plates of the 80’s and 90’s with the classic Statue of Liberty symbol in the middle of the plate! What was the reasoning behind this madness? According to the DMV:

"The plan to require all current vehicle registrants to obtain new license plates when their registrations expire has been cancelled. This means you will not be required to purchase new plates when you renew your registration.

While the mandatory reissuance of license plates has been canceled, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) began to issue new Empire Gold (blue and gold) vehicle plates in place of the current Empire (blue and white) plates on April 1, 2010. Even though Empire (blue and white) plates will still be valid, those plates will no longer be issued by the DMV when current stocks are gone."

In a Press Release, Commissioner Swarts says, "We are proud of the retro design of the new Empire Gold plate and we are pleased to offer it to the motoring public."

At the Gym: The 3 S-Cuses

BY ROBERT ESSIG We’ve all been there before; We made it through the long morning, breezed through lunch, and as the day comes to an end we find a excuse not to go to the gym. "I'll skip tonight and work twice as hard tomorrow!" Follow that approach and you’ll forget what your gym looks like. The following three excuses (s-cuses) are the only ones I personally allow. The 3 S-Cuses: Sick, Sore & Sleepy. Of the three, I can give excuses for two of them as reasons why I can still go.

Sick: Well this is the one that no matter what, you need to accept it, stay home and rest! Overdoing it when you’re sick only leads to more headaches down the line.

Sore: Well if your muscles are sore from a previous workout then you won't be able to push yourself to the levels you need to reach to help build muscle. So you say you can take today off, huh? Well if your chest hurts, what about your legs? This is where I feel you can work around this problem. There are five major areas to workout. If one is sore, most likely one of the other four are not. Problem fixed!

Sleepy: This one affects probably every person in the world at some point during the day. Imagine an eight hour work day followed by rushing to catch the subway and then a train to sit down for forty-five minutes before your stop. Chances are you’re drifting into a light sleep cycle. Feel like quitting now do you? Well actually going to the gym can help increase your blood pressure, get your metabolism going and help wake you up! After the first set, you’ll have your energy back and you’ll be able to finish your workout.

Remember these guidelines the next time you feel like skipping on the gym…

Trying Too Hard

BY KEITH KIRSNER
Some guys try way too hard to stay on top of the trends. They go a little too extreme and take themselves in the wrong direction. You probably know someone like this. Dressing yourself shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes. If you are taking longer than that, it will show and not in a good way! You’re going to look so unnatural; your outfit might even appear humorous. There’s a difference between not caring and caring too much. Find that happy medium and you’ll be set!

Purpose or Design

BY KEITH KIRSNER A lot of fashion comes from clothes that actually serve a purpose before it makes its way to the runways. Fashion forecasting companies research and develop where movements are going and what the public will want. Designers then make clothes based on these trends for mass production that will eventually hit the streets. It seems over the last few decades designers have strongly taken inspiration from blue-collared workers. Anyone remember overalls from the 80’s? How about carpenter pants and a pair of Timberland’s in the 90’s? And how about in the 2000’s with our military shirts and camouflage shorts? It makes you wonder where our next phase of inspirational workers will come from...

What's In a Name?

BY KEITH KIRSNER Nicknames come and go with friends, but the good ones stick around. Gordon Matthew Sumner got his nickname early on in his career. He started as a member of The Phoenix Jazzmen. During one of their rehearsals, their trombone player, Gordon Solomon, took a look at what Sumner was wearing. Sumner came in that day with a striped yellow and black soccer shirt(similar to the one above.) Solomon remarked that Sumner looked like a bumblebee which led to him being called, “Stinger.” This eventually became the man we know today as “Sting.” You never know what you wear one day will influence what people will call you for the rest of your life.

Beg, Borrow, Steal

BY KEITH KIRSNER
You can’t always have it all. Sometimes you see something great on someone else and you realize you’ve missed the sale by only a few days, a season, or maybe even a couple years. It only leaves you wanting it more since you can’t have it. Next time you see something you like on a friend, ask to borrow it sometime. Since you and your buddies aren’t always the same size, this might work best with accessories. Borrow a tie, handkerchief, cuff links, or watch. Great things are hard to find so why not share? Just make sure you give them back!

Hair Help: Nose Hair

BY KEITH KIRSNER Imagine a gorgeous girl heading in your direction. She’s got it all and coming your way. Your palms start to sweat, you've got butterflies in your belly, and you’re breathing pattern has increased significantly. As she gets closer, you realize something off about her. ‘What? No! No! Oh, no!’ You desperately try and fight the crowd, but you’re trapped! She approaches you and you can’t help but notice she’s got something else! You’re thinking to yourself, ‘Don’t look. Just glance.’ You realize under all this beauty, she’s got some gnarly threads coming out of her nose, peaking out in your direction.

I think it would be difficult for you not to notice or attempt to look elsewhere. So with that horrifying scenario, why in the world would you think it’s acceptable to leave the house with that bush growing out of your nose? I’ve heard some people these days going the extra mile and getting nose hair laser removal! For those of us who can’t afford that, a simple clean pair of scissors will get the job done. At the Gym: Cell Phone Ban

BY ROBERT ESSIG How annoying is it to go to the gym, know what workouts you want to accomplish for the day just to get there and find somebody talking on their phone saying they are using that machine. I don't know why people feel the gym is a place to socialize, and act like it’s a Friday night at a local bar.

I read a story once, a man was working out and every time during his "break" period, he would play with his phone. While doing his exercise, his phone went off and while trying to juggle the weight and pick up, he dropped the barbell on his foot! He never brought his phone to the gym again. I have a tendency to tell people about this as they chat on their cells at the gym. Some look at me in disgust while some get a good laugh and continue talking on their phone. Do yourself a favor, talk on your phone before or after the gym. While your there accomplish your goal of staying in shape!

What Day Is Today?

BY KEITH KIRSNER

Today is Mother’s Day! The one woman who won’t disappoint you and you always know where you stand with her. For all those Saturday morning pancake breakfasts and rides from school to softball, your Mom did everything she could when you were growing up. Today is her day. A card is a must, but if you really want to get her something special, think of something that will last her more than a day's worth of smiles. Think about what she really enjoys and see how you can capture that into a gift that she’ll really appreciate. Last month, I took pictures of her favorite Magnolia tree in the backyard when it was in full bloom (it only lasts 2 weeks out of the year before all the petals fall to the ground.) Then I did something that many forget to do after they take a digital photo. I had them printed and framed! This is something that is thoughtful and doesn’t have to cost that much. Try something original to say thank you!

Coach belts are designed with a curve so they’re not perfectly straight and fit better along your waist. If you don't know what to ask for when it’s your birthday, ask for a classic black or brown belt from Coach. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied when it arrives!

Beggar Prince

BY KEITH KIRSNER If anyone remembers Zoolander’s Mr. Mugati’s fashion show, inspired by on the street homeless people, it looks like this guy came straight from the runway! He’s most well known as “Brother Sharp”, but his true name is Cheng Guorong. He is the 5’8”, 35 year old homeless man who lives in the city Ningbo, China and has gained quite a bit of attention. His looks and style have produced an internet following and fans on the street. Some enthusiasts call him the ‘Beggar Prince’ as well as the ‘Handsome Vagabond’, but others are calling him the ‘coolest man in China’. He seems to have an appreciation for women’s wear although I think he’ll take whatever he can get his hands on. I guess one man’s trash is another man’s treasure...

Celebrity Clothing Line (CCL): Propr

BY KEITH KIRSNER Can musicians and actors make good clothes? Well, here's the start to one of many articles debating the big question if celebrities have any business in the fashion business. Your opinion matters. I want to know what you think! Give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down on the comment box.

So, what happens when a musician and an actor/one time (WCW) World Heavy Weight Champion of the World combine to make a clothing line? Propr, is introduced. Ben Harper and David Arquette have a complete line of men's and women's clothing including their organic, American made exclusives. The duo teamed up with former Vice President of Penguin, David Bedwell to create their brand. The name derived from the French word, propre, meaning ‘fitting’.

Since July 2009, they have been selling their clothing in a store in L.A. When asked how this all started, Arquette replied, “I just love clothing. And that’s sort of what bonded all of us to want to do this. We all have a really deep love of clothing and we’re passionate about it. We want to make really comfortable clothes that people feel comfortable in.” Ben Harper said that the team all have an appreciation for each other’s style and style in general.

Their line is what I’d like to call ‘Bad-Boy-Preppy-Punk’. You can find their clothes currently selling in Bloomingdale's and Scoop in NYC. Future plans for Propr are focusing on opening stores in the East Coast and adding formal wear such as tuxedos to the brand.

Macy’s Online & In-Store Shopping Tip

BY KEITH KIRSNER
Never know what’s on sale and what’s not? With all that small text on the bottom of the coupon it’s always a guessing game before you go to the register. Well here’s the easy way of finding things that will be on sale for that 15%, 25% or more. If the price of the item ends evenly, as in $55.00 , you’ll be able to get the discount. However, if the price ends $54.98, the 98 cents stands for Macy’s ‘Everyday Special.’ Maybe next time there will be less confusion when you're ready to check out!

Long Live Your Socks

BY KEITH KIRSNER
Buying new socks may be the least exciting thing to do so to keep this process to a minimum, follow this simple tip: If you want to prolong your sock life, you should know what keeps your socks together. They stay on your ankle and legs with elastic. Every time you pair up your socks and put them in the drawer, you're actually killing your socks one at a time. By folding your socks together, you're stretching the elasticity which will eventually snap with time. This may require some extra thought in the morning pairing your socks together so do place caution. You don't want to mismatch your socks when you head to the office.

Fake Baking

BY KEITH KIRSNER Unfortunately, we are in the age of painting our bodies through means of sunless airbrush spray tanning in order to look "melony-healthy". Take my advice – I’d rather you be pasty pale rather than have you look like a damn Umpa Lumpa! Yes, these are actual pictures that have not been altered by Photoshop. Not recommended for children, adults, celebrities, or wanna-be-guitos. Please for the sake of everyone: Do not show up more tan than your date… unless you want to look like a complete idiot. There’s just something very unnatural about orange skin.

Ready-to-Wear

BY KEITH KIRSNER Ready to wear refers to the clothes you get off the rack in the stores that are ready for you to wear. These clothes are intended to be worn without significant alteration because it is meant to fit most people. So even if you go to the store and find your size, it still is considered ‘ready to wear’ because a tailor didn’t custom make that garment specifically for you. Now with that said, that doesn’t mean because you found your size that there is nothing left to do but wear it.

There may need some extra tweaks in that shirt, coat, or pants that will make all the difference in the world if you have them altered before you wear it. Ever considered getting your trench coat taken 2’’ off the bottom to balance your height proportions correctly? Maybe that shirt billows too much in the back. Take it to a tailor and have it taken in an inch on each side for look that will have people turning heads. Sometimes it’s a matter of getting a pair of scissors and unstitching that patch on the sleeve to make it your own. Just because you bought it doesn’t mean it ends there. Give your clothes some personality and take yourself to the next level!

Save Your Denim

BY KEITH KIRSNER Jeans: Wash them only when needed. Turn them inside out when you put them in the machine on a cold wash. This will help maintain the color of the denim. Hot dryers can fade jeans quickly so your best bet is to dry them on a hanger.
*Note to the wise: If you buy the jeans that only come in one length and need to get them hemmed, wash them before you head to your tailor. If they are going to shrink, better do it before you get them shortened to the perfect length.

Trust at the Barbershop

BY KEITH KIRSNER
The relationship between you and your barber is about trust. When getting your haircut, you want to make sure you get out of there looking better than when you came in. If you’re not, something is wrong. Your barber sees hundreds of people a week so unless you’re on a first name basis with your barber, explain every time what needs to get done. You should only be asking him for the ‘usual’ if you’ve been going to the same guy for years and have been satisfied and comfortable with what you’re getting in return. If you like how your hair comes out every time, there is not much else to discuss than local sports and news. Most people who go to the same barber for years will wait however many people are in front of them because they know they'll be taken care of. Now that’s what I call loyalty.

Your hair can dramatically change your appearance. You need to make sure you articulate exactly what you want to him. Do you want a circle or square back? How long do you want your sideburns? What length razor do you want to use when buzzing the sides and back? How many finger lengths do you want cut off on the top? These are all questions you need to think about when going in and explain exactly how you want your hair to look. It’s nobody else’s hair, but yours. Understand what looks best on you. Getting a bad haircut isn’t the end of the world. It will grow back in a couple of weeks, but if you’re not getting what you ask for, get a recommendation from a friend. Hair is one of the most visible thing that can change our appearance, so start on top!

Tails of Your Jacket

BY KEITH KIRSNER
Here’s a tip for those of you who just purchased that new suit, sport jacket, or coat. Turn it around and on the back, you’ll see if there are tails on the bottom of your jacket. After you purchase it, you want to make sure before you wear it that there is no cross-stitch seam keeping the tails together. Those tails are supposed to be separated to flap while you walk and comfort when you sit. Find a pair of sharp scissors and cut away that 'x'. Now you’re good to go!

Leave Those Gym Sneakers Home

BY KEITH KIRSNER
There’s always that one guy who thinks it’s okay to wear his gym sneakers out to the bar. You know the ones; those oversized-white-marshmallow-high-tops he blatantly got off the clearance rack. Maybe it’s because he never had time to change from the game or possibly he never thought of the option of wearing different clothes for different events.

When pairing your clothes with your shoes, you want to make sure you keep it simple. A pair of Chucks can work well into your wardrobe because they are very versatile. Keep it a neutral color and this will allow you to get more wear out of it. There’s a reason these sneakers hardly ever changed since their birth. They introduced colors to their All Star high tops in the 1950’s with the introduction of Rock & Roll and the newly National Basketball Association. In the futuristic film, ‘I’ Robot’ taking place in the year 2035, Will Smith’s character proudly laces up his pair of leather Chucks.

They are just as relevant in the past as they will be in the future. Chucks are classics who need not much change. They go great with a pair of jeans and look better with age as they wear and tear. Newly designed sneakers come pre-scuffed for a vintage look that you have been around the block without ever stepping foot in them. This may be the only pair of sneakers I don’t recommend you get out that shoe polish and start cleaning!

At The Gym: Steel Or Flubber

BY ROBERT ESSIG
After reading an article in a recent men's health magazine, (according to women) abs are one of the sexiest muscles on a man's body. That's next to a bulging biceps and a strong thick back. Need help with that stubborn part of your body? Start with your upper abs and do medium weight high reps and use a few different machines. After you get that burning feeling, then start working on your lower abs. Having your upper abs tired during these workouts will help you put a larger amount of stress on your lower abs. Also make sure you always exhale hard at the end of the rep to force a little more stress on your abs. Research shows women love a stomach they can do their laundry on so get to the gym and build your own set of wash board abs!

Hygiene: Toothbrush Cleaning

BY KEITH KIRSNER
Like your dentist suggests, you should replace your toothbrush every 6 months. While your new brush may be clean when you take it out of the wrapper, it won’t stay that way forever. Your bathroom is prompt to mold and bacteria with the room filled with dampness and water. Your toothbrush is there to help you clean, not rot away your teeth. Rinse your toothbrush in mouthwash for about 30 seconds for a good cleaning. This will make sure you’re not harming your teeth and gums any further than you are with those sweets and candy.

15 Seconds: Ports

BY KEITH KIRSNER
With the mix of weather patterns out there, it’s hard to know how to dress for the day. The mornings have a cold chill in the air, but by mid-afternoon with the sun at its hottest hours, you can’t wait to go home and shower. Some people like to try and beat the system by buying things like pants that turn into shorts, or what I like to refer to as ‘ports’. This type of garment has a specific use for camping and nature hikes. So unless you are traveling along the Redwood Forest in San Fransico, this is something I would advise against wearing. If you’re thinking no one can tell and I get more for my money this way, you are strongly mistaken. Buy separate pants and also shorts. Sometimes in fashion there are shortcuts, however this is not one of them. I strongly recommend layering to solve this problem. That way you can still take off a shirt or a hoodie at your will and still look good.
